No, we haven’t cooked Daisy, although I’m certain she would make a delicious fricassee. The weather is still hot, but there has been a slight break in the extreme temps so she does spend most of her days outside and only comes in when things get sizzling.
She actually does fly up to the window and holler for me to open the door. Then she goes to her indoor chicken house in a small hallway off my foyer.
Yes, she’s spoiled. She’s almost well and soon when Fall makes its entrance she’ll be an outdoor chicken full time. I expressed my concerns about her loneliness to Debbie (her prior mommy) and she assured me that Daisy has been a “loner” since Rosie & Violet were killed two years ago. She told me to remember that she is a CHICKEN and that I should calm down and not be so concerned. Of course my friend is right. No one has a more tender heart than Debbie, but even she understands that people can go overboard with concern for pets. My instructions are to be a good chicken mom to her, feed her, give her safe shelter and medical care and let a chicken be a chicken. Yes Ma’am!
She’s not a baby anymore. 😦 *sniff*
