The Great Catfood Caper of 2014

We feed two stray cats on our porch.  One is a little gray tabby (GT) whom I’ve never been able to photograph, and the other is a gorgeous orange long-haired beauty that we have named “Orange Kitty”.

Surely you can come up with something better than that?

So much for imaginative monikers, huh?  He/she is really pretty and we try very hard to get him/her to let us get near enough to pet him/her (OK, enough with the pronouns, I’m gonna call this creature a girl!), but she is just too skittish.  She does, however, know where her bread is buttered and she makes numerous daily visits to the food and water bowls, all the while keeping a keen eye on her surroundings.  The pictures are a little grainy because I had to use my zoom.  I looked super sleuthy hanging around the corner of my porch, camera at the ready, trying to get a picture of her eating.

Coast clear?

No sign of that crazy Siamese guy or that plump lady cat who takes naps all day.

Those groundskeeper dudes really scare me! Can't you see I'm trying to enjoy my lunch?

OK, so I was feeling pretty smug in my efforts to capture this clandestine kitty eating her cat food on the sly.  Orange Kitty left the porch with her tummy full, but there was still plenty of cat food in the bowl for GT if he should make an appearance.  I sat still for a bit longer hoping to catch him, but instead I began to notice this guy…

This bird was acting all cray cray and weird.  He was looking over his shoulder and making chirp noises and hopping from one porch rail to the other.  Then he did this…

closer...

closer…

closer...

closer…

BINGO! Birdy buffet time!

BINGO! Birdy buffet time!

He got a nugget of purloined Purina in his beak and…

BAZINGA!

BAZINGA!

He flew off to his little birdy lair to enjoy his snack.

I was thrilled that I got this on camera.  Since then I’ve seen this guy on the porch a lot.  He always waits for the cats to leave and then he makes his move.  I think he may be a CATBIRD!  Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.  I am so funny!

And I can’t leave you without your daily dose of cuteness overload.  Get ready!

BAM!

BAM!

🙂
